On May 8, Ukraine, together with all of Europe, honors the memory of the victims of the Second World War of 1939–1945. The observance of the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in the Second World War of 1939–1945 was established by the Law of Ukraine in 2023. The red poppy has become a shared symbol of remembrance through which Ukraine and Europe honor those who perished in the Second World War.
