National culture in changing social realm: values and creativity

Under this name, on May 30, 2023, an international conference was held on the online platform of the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, which was opened by the director of the Institute for Cultural Research, Full Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor Hanna Chmil, emphasizing the importance of the discussed topic in today’s Ukrainian realities.

Within the framework of the conference, a monograph of French and Latvian researchers “Intangible Cultural Heritage in the System of National and International Legislation” was presented by one of the authors of the monograph, Anita Vaivade, head of the UNESCO Department of Cultural Heritage and Legislation at the Latvian Academy of Culture. Anita Vaivade gave a speech “Legal Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in time of peace and disasters”. The head of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Maryana Tomyn, presented the priorities and orientations of the cultural policy of Ukraine, in particular in the field of cultural heritage protection during russia’s military aggression and post-war reconstruction. Legislative role in the field of protection of the National Cultural Heritage summarized the report of Valentyna Demian, researcher of the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.

Reports and messages during the conference were delivered by: Maryna Mishchenko, head of the Department of cultural heritage and monument protection of the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Doctor of philosophy (Ph.D., law); Oleksandra Oliinyk, head of the Department of Theory and History of Culture of the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Ph.D. in Cultural Studies; Olena Shershnyova, Ph.D. in public administration, senior lecturer of the Department of Journalism and PR Management of the National University “Ostroh Academy”; Nadia Honcharenko, senior researcher at the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine; Lesya Kotsur, Ph.D. in Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science at Hryhoriy Skovoroda University in Pereyaslav; Oksana Chepelyk, Ph.D., senior researcher, leading scientific specialist of the art department of the latest technologies in the Institute of Problems of Contemporary Art of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine; Oleksandr Muzychko, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor of Odesa National University I. I. Mechnikov; Victor Griza, Ph.D. in History, Associate Professor of the Department of Cinema and Television Arts of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts and others.

The conference was organized by the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, the Development Center “Democracy through Culture” and the UNESCO Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Legislation of the Latvian Academy of Culture.
