The Academie Europeenne des Sciences, des Arts et des Lettres, AESAL is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1979 that unites over 300 members of national academies, and 72 Nobel Laureates from 54 countries. The initiative of establishing the Academy belongs to Dr. Nicole Lemaire Agaggio in 1973.
The purpose of AESAL is to promote co-operation between nations in the fields of education, science, arts and literature, regardless of racial, national, linguistic, religious or other differences, in the interests of peace. The Academy collaborates with UNESCO, national academies and other international and national structures. Activities include conducting research, organizing conferences, publishing reports. It conducts annual international symposiums.
