The monograph (312 p.) is the result of the fundamental scientific research of the Institute for Cultural Research of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine on the topic Culture of Ukraine: historical and cultural dimensions.
The work based on the personalized materials of the works of the outstanding classics of Ukrainian historical and cultural thought from the middle of the XVIIIth century to the beginning of the nineteenth century. (H. Skovoroda, M. Gogol, P. Yurkevych, P. Kulish, M. Drahomanov, I. Franko, I. Vernadsky) thoroughly and reasonably highlights the cultural-civilizational processes under the conditions of globalization. The fundamental historical and cultural material highlights the processes of genesis and transformation of civilization problems of culture in the age of globalization. The monograph analyzes form-developing role of culture in the definition of civilization, describes methodological possibilities of the synergetic paradigm in the consideration of historical and philosophical thought of Ukraine.
It discloses the formation of the definitions of “culture” and “civilization” in the era of globalization on the basis of a thorough consideration of the works of prominent representatives of Ukrainian historical and cultural thought. The work shows development of historical and theoretical foundations of Ukrainian culture in the global and civilization dimension. The analysis of the crisis state of modern culture and civilization is carried out, certain possibilities of their overcoming are outlined.
The publication is intended for scientists in the fields of culture, philosophy, history, art history, teachers, postgraduates, doctoral students, artists and anyone interested in the problems of history and theory of culture of Ukraine.
